Multnomah Falls

When I was in the 6th grade we went on a field trip to Multnomah Falls as a part of our 6th grade camp. I had been to Multnomah Falls before to see the waterfall, but I had never climbed to the end of the trail that leads to the top of the falls. We had always been in a hurry or on our way to the beach and didn’t have time to climb to the top.

My dad was one of the group leaders on the field trip that volunteered to watch a few kids. We got off the bus and our teacher told us a story about the Indians that used to live there and how one of them had jumped off the falls to save her tribe from a deadly disease. There was even a plaque there that had the story written on it. We split into groups and started walking the trail. My favorite part was when we went over a bridge that was very close to the falls. When we got about half way up, one member of our group got tired and went back down. One by one, the other members of my group all ran out of energy and turned around.

After a while my dad and I were the only ones left from our group who were still walking the trail. We knew that we were running out of time and the bus would leave without us if we didn’t get to the top and head back down soon. We decided to jog the rest of the way and we made it to the top with a few minutes to spare. The view was great and it was amazing how high we were. It was a really fun trip and I hope that I can get to the top of the falls again someday and see the view again.
