My Grandmother

My grandmother Elsie Valentine Williams was born Feb. 14, 1881, in Catching Creek, Oregon. Her parents had moved here in 1873 from Kansas. She was the youngest of 11. She was orphaned at a young age, so by the time she was 18, she was married with a baby. After two unhappy marriages she met my grandfather, Grover Cleveland Moore. They married in 1907. She raised a total of 11 children. Their union ended in April 1943 when Elsie died of a stroke. Grover and Elsie now lay side by side in the Mason’s Cemetary in Canyonville, Oregon, with his mother and grandparents. Three of their children also lay to rest there too.
