Portland, OR

Alby Shank was the second oldest of five sons born to George and Mary Shank. With a gradeschool education from Missouri and Kansas, Shank farmed in Oregon when he arrived in 1882 in Clackamas County, and later Hood River County. He raised potatoes, grain, and had a “productive” orchard. He married Luella Frost, daughter of Elam Frost. The Shanks had two sons, Earnest and Earl. He served as supervisor of the county for one term and held positions on the school board.
